Feeling Old...er

So today I had lunch with a few other "college pastors". It was fun, to, ya know, hang out with the boys and eat pizza. It was fun. There is this cool place in dt Naperville known as "the Union" for students to hang out, regardless of college and plug into a local church community. The great thing is that its a group of churches working together to get the students involved... Bigger picture here. Big "C" church. SO great. The first event is Sept. 8.

What made me feel old...er? Well one of the guys asked if any of us had considered using the internet, i.e. myspace or facebook as a means of ministry. So, I checked out myspace (yes, I now have an account). It is geared toward college students to some extent. But it dawned on me that I was in my second or third year of college before I ever got on line. I was in my FOURTH year before I got my own email address. Now its second nature. Who needs a regular address when most anything can be sent via email. So wierd. So old.

To simpler days.

You say TOMATO, I say...

Today I wanted to take a nap. I don't know about you, but I feel the best naps are definitely taken on the couch, curled around the couch cushions with some kind of program on the tv... one that I can give or take. Today's choice.... (drum role please)... CASABLANCA with Humphrey Bogart. I slept well. I wonder why we now use the term "bogart" as in "to steal"... Like... hey, why did you bogart my last coke out of the fridge.... or hey, you cant bogart that saying... its mine. (evidently all remarks that contain this word must start with "hey") - Its late.

This morning Meg and I went to the Chicago Green City Market. She told me she wanted to leave at 7am... I set the alarm for 630...PM!!! So at 7, she knocked on my door. I got up a little dazed and confused after a night of not really sleeping at all. Me thinks that Starbucks slipped a bit o' caffeine in my late night decaf.... punks. GO TO CARIBOU! Anyway, I answered the door, happy I had pajamas on (it has been a little hot lately). She waited patiently for me. THen I moved my car just before we left and realized that I was wearing 2 different shoes. In my defense, I did go from asleep to in the car in 10 minutes... mismatched shoes are a minor detail. I fixed the problem and we were off. It was a cool market... all organic. Lots of tomatos, corn, zucchini, striped eggplant (really cool looking). On the way back we saw a Suzuki Samurai on the interstate that was completely full of watermelons.... there was no back window vision, the melons were packed clear to the roof of the car. It was great.

organic melons for all :-)

good night

Jeanette Oke and Lori Wick LIED

INDEED... love does NOT come softly in the form of braids being dipped in ink jars or an Adam Pottebee leaning over a milk cow and saying "how 'bout it" after tasting the "vittles". And Henry Cloude... why do we listen to him anyway? How old was he when he got married? Has he ever been a 31 year old single Christian woman... my guess is NO. So he has written some "Boundaries" books... one marketed to every willing demographic, in fact. Well... here is my boundary... I will not listen to the likes of you anymore!

Now, if you are thinking I am a bitter single woman... you are wrong, well... most of the time you are wrong. I am however, remarkably bitter toward all of the fantasies written in novels of young love, all of the "how tos" written about how to meet Mr. Right and what to do if you missed your soul mate, and whether or not it is GOd's will that everyone marry... mostly written by 20 year old brides or grooms who seem to know. Frankly, I want to just live... happy to have another day with friends and families and coffee, not worrying about that dude 7 years ago and whether or not I "missed the one".

May the fedex man actually be yours contrary to Cloude.
